If you live or work in Mapleton, are 18 or older and in sound physical condition, you're invited to apply for membership in the city's most critical volunteer organization.
The Mapleton Fire Department will provide you with training, with equipment and with the satisfaction of knowing you have participated in saving lives and property.
The basic requirements for membership are:
- Be of good moral character
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of application
- Complete a medical examination
- Submit to a written, oral and physical agility test

Should you have questions, feel free to an officer or any member of the Mapleton Fire Department.
You are required to attend 18 of 22 meetings the first year.
You will be required to attend a 40-hour First Responder Course.
You will be on a one year probation period.
You may be asked to help with fire prevention education.
Members are paid $8.00 per fire and/or rescue call and also $8.00 per meeting that they attend.
After one year you are eligible to be enrolled in the Mapleton Volunteer Fire Relief Association.
The social events include a Firemen's Annual Dance, Fireman's Pork Feed, Summer Softball Tournament and Christmas Party.
